The Riley archive project rileycarsarchive.org/ A group of Riley enthusiasts headed up by Victor Riley himself have created a museum called "Unit 8" in Coventry where they have a collection and a replica of the first Riley car.

From the pictorial guide to Beaulieu 1970-71 :- Riley made a prototype car in 1898, and followed this up with a series of motor cycles and tricars. Sporting success came with the 9 h.p. of 1927, and its successor, the 1.5 litre, distinguished themselves on the circuits, having three Tourist Trophies - 1932, 1936 and 1937 to their credit. This machine is a 1936 "works" 1.5 litre similar to Fred Dixon's victorious model. Fifteen years later the late Mike Hawthorn used it to win the Ulster Trophy Race. He restored it only a short while before his tragic death, and it is preserved as a memorial to a great driver. Manufacturer: Riley (Coventry) Ltd. 11.9 h.p.; 4-cyl. o.h.v.; 69x100mm.;1496 c.c.; H.T. mag.; 4-speed; shaft drive; foot brake mechanical on four wheels, hand on rear wheels; half-eliptic suspension; New price £425 (standard model).
